Abstract:The emerging aircraft autonomy technologies in small unmanned aerial systems (UASs) and larger electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOLs) are expected to change the aviation landscape. In order to enable safe and high-density operations with these new aircraft types, novel mathematical models and autonomy algorithms are needed to support airspace/corridor design, flight planning, air traffic management and avionics functions. In this talk the speaker will initiate exciting discussions on integrated conflict management, vertiport management, and AI certification concerns in introducing neural nets into avionic functions.
